Account Protection Security

Account and PIN Retry protection
To gain access to Net-24 and the Bill Paying Service, a member must give a correct account number and PIN. These fields are hidden on the computer screen when they are entered by the member. (When a member types in these fields, only asterisks "*" appear.)

If a hacker tries to arbitrarily guess at an account number and PIN by writing a program that tries all possible combinations or by just manually typing in combinations, this action will be detected immediately by the Application Firewall, and he will be denied access to the entire system by his IP address or range of IP addresses. We can then trace him back to his source.

In the event that someone knows a member's account number, and this person tries to guess at what the member's PIN is, the system will lock out that account for access via the service after a third incorrect PIN entry. The account can only be unlocked by BWCU personnel.

Program Feature Set Protection
The Net-24 and Bill Paying Service does not allow for simple fraudulent use. A customer can only view his account balances and statements, transfer funds within his own accounts and pay his bills with this service. All of these allowable transactions are reversible transactions. Customers are not allowed to transfer money to other accounts.

This three-tiered security policy was developed to guard against the unauthorized use and access of member's data at the credit union. By separately securing the credit union data source, the data while in transmission, and the member's account, we enable members to access their funds via the Internet, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from anywhere in the world.
