Protect Kansans’ Right to Belong to BWCU
Credit unions in Kansas are under attack. Credit union competitors are working with their trade associations to restrict who can enjoy the benefits of being a member/owner of a credit union. During the 2008 legislative session, it is likely that they will ask the Kansas state legislators to introduce and pass legislation to restrict who can join and use a credit union despite the fact that banks and payday lenders are permitted to branch anywhere they choose.
BWCU has been providing great products and services to members since 1936. Due to the cooperative nature of credit unions, our ability to offer new services and benefits is directly tied to our ability to attract new member/owners. If the ability to grow is taken away by state lawmakers, Kansas Credit Unions and Kansans will be hurt.
