BWCU, your member-owned financial institution, is committed to providing you with competitive products and services to meet your financial needs and help you reach your goals. You can be confident that your financial privacy is a top priority of this credit union. This notice describes the privacy policy and practices followed by BWCU and our affiliates. We are required by law to give you this privacy notice to explain how we collect, use, and safeguard your personal financial information.
BWCU collects only relevant information about members that is needed to establish and maintain your account and services as the law permits or requires us to collect. We collect non-public personal information about you, depending on the accounts and services you request and use, from the following sources:
- Information we receive from you on membership and loan applications and other forms;
- Information about your transactions with us or others;
- Information we receive from a consumer reporting agency;
- Information obtained when verifying the information you provide on an application or other forms, such as from your current or past employers or from other institutions where you conduct financial transactions;
- Information about your transactions with us or our affiliates.
In order to provide financial services to you, we share certain information about you with our affiliate and third party service providers. However we only share information to the extent necessary to service your account or offer new services to you. If we share your information, it is with the goal of bringing you quality services, more choices and greater convenience.
- Credit Union Affiliates: We may share personal information with our wholly-owned affiliate as permitted by law. Our affiliate maintains the same privacy standards as BWCU.
- Third Party Service Providers: In order for products and services to be available to our membership, we need to share information with our service providers to the extent necessary to service your account, including: check or share draft services, consumer reporting agencies, data processors. ATM processing companies, loan service providers, member cash back program, insurance companies and financial service providers with whom we have joint marketing agreements. These service providers act on our behalf and have agreed in writing to keep the member information we provide to them confidential.
Information shared with third party service providers depends on the specific service, but can consist of some or all of the following: personal information (name, address and account number) account information (type of accounts, account balances, and transaction history), and transaction information (dates, amounts, locations and type of transaction).
We do not sell member information nor share your account numbers with independent third party marketers offering their products or services. While we may assist in offering financial products and services of our affiliate or other financial service providers, we control the member information used to make such offers.
- Sharing Information as Legally Required or Permitted: We may also disclose information we collect about you under other circumstances as permitted or required by law. These disclosures typically include information to process transactions on your behalf, conduct the operations of our credit union, and follow your instructions as you authorize, or protect the security of our financial records. In addition, we may share any member information in response to a lawful request issued by a court, government agency, regulatory agency, or as permitted by law in order to administer or enforce your account.
We restrict access to non-public personal information about you to those employees who have a specific business purpose in utilizing your data. Our employees are trained in the importance of maintaining confidentiality and member privacy. We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations and leading industry practices to safeguard your non-public personal information.
If you terminate your membership with BWCU, we do not share information we have collected about you, except as permitted or required by law.

Our Website does not require members to disclose any personally identifying information. However, members choosing to e-mail BWCU should be aware that any information attached to that e-mail address will be revealed. It is our pledge that we will use your e-mail information only for the specific purpose of responding to your comments or questions. We will not sell or share our members’ e-mail addresses to or with any third party.
BWCU does not set cookies on our members’ personal computers. Our Net-24 product does allow members to conduct financial transactions on their accounts and our third party vendor may set cookies enabling use of the product. Our third party vendor contract specifically addresses confidentiality and each party acknowledges that confidential information shall remain property of the other.
We may from time to time, solicit information from our members, which requires them to disclose to us certain personal information. Our members provide this information to BWCU on a voluntary basis. The disclosure of such information will be used primarily for the specific promotion the data is being gathered for or simply to enable the credit union to contact our members with additional information about our products and services.
